Anand-Kramnik: Round 3

The third round featured the matchup of the top two contenders, Anand and Kramnik. Faithfully playing 1. e4, Anand had to be prepared to offer a new challenge to Kramnik's patented Petroff defense. After failing to achieve anything against Gelfand in the first round, Anand varied his opening, and tried a new line...

"We came to an agreement that Vladimir plays wussy chess..."

On the other boards, Morozevich outfoxed Svidler in an offbeat variation of the Scotch Game, bringing himself into the pack chasing the leaders.

Anand 2.0
Kramnik 2.0
Gelfand 1.5
Grischuk 1.5
Leko 1.5
Morozevich 1.5
Svidler 1.0
Aronian 1.0
